Geoff:
I have successfully used the card at 19200 using the PC as a
display terminal (VDP turned off). However when I tried to use 
just the modem with it, with the VDP turned on, I lose data. I 
suspect that the VDP is just too slow (or perhaps the VDP RAM) 
for the display to update in time before it needs to handle the 
next batch of serial data.  This would tend to make sense, 
because I had another computer which used the 9928 VDP, a NEC PC 
9201A with the external display. The max rate it would support 
was theoretically 9600 baud, however at anything above 1200 it 
would lose data.
